Because of the scarcity of new bikes (see Buying New), used Harleys are often priced higher than new. Many are buying the popular models, trailering them home, and placing an ad in the paper for several thousand dollars more than they paid. There is a special hell reserved for these Speculating Bastards.

If you are lucky enough to find a used Harley at a fair price, have a competent mechanic give it a once-over. The price for this is usually a six pack of the mechanics favorite brew.
