Newsgroup

This is an exceedingly cool newsgroup with no flames and a strong sense of camaraderie. When planning an off road adventure many group members post a note inviting people to join them.

Many members have met and 'wheeled together IRL. This makes for a nice atmosphere of friendship, hard to find on the Internet these days.

As this is a family oriented sport, this a family oriented newsgroup.

So come in, make some new friends, learn a bit, explain a bit and then let's all go play in the mud!

Advertising

To post a notice of an item for sale begin the subject with "FS" for "For Sale" and then list a brief description.

In the text of your post please provide your location, price, shipping issues and NO pictures. You are also encouraged to post a URL pointing to pictures on a web site.

Netiquette Guide

This is undoubtedly one of the most civil newsgroups in Usenet. Let's keep it that way.

There really is no swearing or flaming, which makes this a nice respite from other, shriller corners of the web.

Please use a brief descriptive message in your subject line. Subjects such as "Help" or "What do I do now?" will get skipped over by a lot of people.

Do not post pictures or other binaries to this text-based newsgroup. Some members use older systems that will only display garbage, some of us have slow modems and others must pay by the minute. Sending a big picture to the group will make you no friends. If you feel you must post a picture post it to alt.binaries.pictures.autos and post a different note here telling everyone where to look.

Do not post in HTML format for the same reasons you should not post binaries. When you are crafting your post ensure that "Plain Text" is selected in the Format options.
Free web space can be obtained at www.geocities.com and www.tripod.com for those wanting to use HTML and/or pictures.

WRITING ALL IN CAPS is considered shouting and should be avoided. Putting *asterisks* before and after a word represents boldface or italics and is the preferred way to stress words. Likewise, underscores can be used to represent _underlining_.

When replying to a post you should quote the relevant portion so that everyone knows what you are talking about. Please be careful to attribute words to their correct author. AOL and WEBtv people can read the instructions provided below for assistance with their newsreader.

A few additional points to consider when quoting:

Remember to respond as if you were sitting face-to-face with the person, and not as an anonymous person a thousand miles away.

Lastly because inflection is difficult to represent textually assume that the poster is laughing with you and not at you. You will find that this is almost certainly the case. This is a very civil group of people where deeds are respected and attitudes aren't.
